When the Allgäu shines in bright colors in autumn, biking at the Großer Alpsee becomes a special experience. Directly from our Alpsee Camping, varied tours start – from relaxed e-bike routes along the water to challenging trails in the Nagelfluhkette with breathtaking views.
Especially in autumn, the quiet atmosphere ensures an intense nature experience. Start cycling in the morning with a view of the lake, ride through rustling leaves, and then end the day comfortably at the campsite – that's what an autumn bike holiday at the Alpsee feels like.

Hörnerdorf Panorama Tour
Approx. 27 km | Easy bike tour
Start your tour directly from our 5* Alpsee Campingplatz heading towards Oberstdorf. During your autumn holiday in Germany, first ride towards the Auwald Center in Immenstadt and from there onto the Iller cycle path. This leads left to Kempten and right towards Sonthofen and Oberstdorf.
In Sonthofen-Rieden, the ascent to Ofterschwang begins, passing picturesque autumn meadows over Muderbolz to Untermühlegg, where you keep right. Continue through Bolsterlang and Sonderdorf to Obermaiselstein. Via the street "Am Scheid," you reach Niederdorf before a final descent to Langenwang follows.
Here you have the choice: either take the train back to Immenstadt or continue cycling to Rubi. On the left, the path leads over Reichenbach, Schöllang, and Altstädten back to Sonthofen. If you turn right, you reach Oberstdorf. From there, you can return to the campsite either by bike or by train.
Allgäu Triathlon Circuit Road
Experience the legendary cycling course of the International Allgäu Triathlon during your autumn holiday in the Allgäu – a challenging route with 700 meters of elevation gain and spectacular views of the autumn mountain landscape.
After swimming in the Großer Alpsee, triathletes leave the water and embark on the demanding bike loop, which includes about 700 vertical meters per lap. From our 5*Alpsee Camping site, the route starts on the main road heading toward the town center. Near the Hofgarten Stadthalle, the course turns left uphill to Kalvarienberg, which presents the first major challenge with a 16% incline.
After a flat section along the "old B19" toward Martinszell, the route continues to Niedersonthofen, where a steep climb begins to the left toward Rieggis. Here, riders must conquer 300 meters of elevation over approximately 4 km. A fast descent follows toward Missen, where you turn right to the turnaround point near Seltmanns.
From there, it's back to Missen and up the climb to Stixner, followed by a descent through Zaumberg with views of Lake Alpsee, before returning to Immenstadt.
Perfect for anyone seeking a sporty challenge during their autumn getaway in the Allgäu and wanting to experience the golden season on two wheels! Depending on the triathlon distance, athletes must complete the route twice before switching to the running segment in Bühl.
Salmaser Höhe
approx. 32 km | Challenging MTB tour
The starting point of this challenging mountain bike tour during your cycling holiday in the Allgäu is our 5*Alpsee Camping site. The route first leads along the Großer Alpsee towards Oberstaufen. After about 8 km, turn right towards Kalzhofen. In the village, turn right again and follow the climb past Alpe Mohr up to the Hompessen-Alpe.
From there, the final challenge awaits: a steep 1.5 km ascent to Salmaser Höhe. But the effort is well worth it—at the top, you're rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view over Lake Alpsee, surrounded by the vibrant autumn colors of the mountain landscape.
The descent follows the scenic ridge trail, leading from Salmaser Höhe via Thaler Höhe back to Bühl.
